Life Inside

The cold, gray walls enclose you. Time stretches. Each day feels the last: a monotonous schedule punctuated by grub and counts. Communication with the outside society is severely curtailed. Despair becomes your constant shadow. You search for meaning in this restricted existence.

You try to hold onto sanity. There are moments of humanity: a unexpectedly compassionate guard, a passing conversation with another prisoner, the occasional kindness of a friend. But these moments are short-lived, quickly swallowed by the unforgiving reality of being incarcerated.

The weight of your past hovers over you. Forgiveness feel like distant, elusive aspirations. You wonder if you'll prison ever truly find your way out, not just from the bars, but from the psychological confines that hold you within.

A crushing weight settles upon them/her/him, a suffocating blanket woven from the threads of unspoken copyright. Outside/Beyond the walls of this solitude/isolation/silence, the world pulses/thrumms/vibrates with life, but here, time stands still/drifts by/flows at a snail's pace. A symphony of sounds plays on the other side, yet they/she/he are left behind/cut off/separated, a solitary figure/soul/being in a sea of soundless space/unheard pleas/mute desperation. The only company they have is the echoes/ghostly whispers/silent screams of their own thoughts/memories/yearnings.

Walls Have Ears

If they think that barrier can conceal whispers, believe again. Walls, including those other things, are often of observing. Historic legends warn people that walls have ears, and while this may seem as if a tale, the truth is often unsettling.

  • Information can flow through walls, carried by vibrations.
  • Concealed conversations can be perceived by anyone nearby.
  • Especially, walls themselves can hold the memories of former events.

So, think twice about what you say near walls. It may be paying attention more than you think.

When Innocence Fades

The world once held/presented itself as/appeared to be a canvas of dreams, where each day was a new adventure/discovery/experience. But the passage of time, like a relentless tide, can wash away/erode/steal that naivete.
